Mush may go abroad only in case of heart transplant

ISLAMABAD: Former military ruler General (R) Pervez Musharraf could be allowed to proceed abroad in case he needs to undergo heart transplant since best care and treatment for any other complex cardiac ailment is available in hospitals situated in Karachi,

Islamabad/Rawalpindi and Lahore in Pakistan.
Lady Diana fame Pakistani origin lungs and cardiac surgeon Dr Hasnat Ahmad Khan who is working as a consultant cardio thoracic surgeon at Basildon University Hospital currently is not part of the doctors’ team looking after the former military ruler of Pakistan in Armed Forces Institute of Cardiac Institute (AFIC) Rawalpindi. Highly placed sources said that the news item of TV channels is totally baseless that Dr. Hasnat Ahmad Khan who is a distant cousin of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan has become member of the team treating Pervez Musharraf. Dr. Hasnat Ahmad Khan is engaged in serving humanity and working for charity in the United Kingdom and he would be returning to Pakistan in March/April this year as he will perform surgery in Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) headed by Major General Azhar Mahmood Kiyani who is chief executive of the institute and Professor of Cardiology.
The doctors according treatment to Gen Musharraf are likely not to advice him to proceed abroad for treatment but the General and his family could opt to go abroad for treatment under their fee will.
The sources pointed out that whenever the lab tests are consigned to doctors abroad, they in normal practice always advice for treatment under their supervision in their clinics/hospitals. It is understood that retired General Pervez Musharraf would also be advised likewise if his lab tests have been dispatched to doctors in the United States or United Kingdom, the sources reminded. The doctors examining him in the military hospital have advised his more tests.
